From community racing to LA28, ASICS strengthens support of Kiwi triathlon
New Zealand’s finest will take on the World Triathlon circuit proudly draped head-to-toe in ASICS’ world-leading footwear and apparel, with the Japanese manufacturer doubling down on its commitment to the sport in Aotearoa.
In addition to a three-year extension as an Official Sponsor and Exclusive Footwear Partner of Tri NZ through to June 2029, ASICS New Zealand has today been unveiled as the Exclusive Apparel Partner of Tri NZ’s High Performance team.
The agreement will see the unmistakable ASICS logo worn proudly on Team NZL’s Mixed Relay race suits, a critical part of the qualification pathway toward the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. New Zealand’s LA28 aspirants will also train, travel and recover in ASICS kit as they represent the sport around the globe.
Triathlon New Zealand CEO Pete De Wet said ASICS’ expanded commitment reflects both the strength of the relationship and the momentum building around triathlon in New Zealand.
“ASICS is a significant player in triathlon globally and we are proud of our association with the brand through ASICS New Zealand,” De Wet said.

“They’ve become such an integral part of Tri NZ’s story, and this evolution of the partnership to include HP apparel makes perfect sense for both parties. Many of our HP athletes already know the benefit of running in ASICS shoes, and it will be great to see them donning the ASICS logo on their apparel too.”
Friday’s announcement comes on the heels of ASICS NZ being unveiled as the Exclusive Footwear & Apparel Partner of Tauranga’s three-year run of World Triathlon events, a landmark hosting window that will see the Bay of Plenty tourism hotspot welcome the world’s best triathletes through to 2028.
That partnership covers:
- 2026 World Triathlon Cup Tauranga (November 22)
- 2027 World Triathlon Championship Series (WTCS) Tauranga
- 2028 World Triathlon Championship Series Grand Final Tauranga
ASICS New Zealand Marketing Manager Matt Wallace said the brand sees enormous potential in both the current generation of Kiwi athletes and the wider growth of the sport domestically. The expanded partnership also includes ongoing support of the community-focused Tri NZ Suzuki Series, a key participation and development pathway from first-timers through to age group world championship aspirations.
“There’s huge momentum around triathlon in New Zealand right now, from Hayden Wilde’s success on the world stage to the growth of major international events in Tauranga and the build toward LA28, and we’re excited for ASICS to continue playing a key role in that journey,” Wallace said.
“Pete and his team are doing a tremendous job elevating the profile of triathlon in New Zealand, and ASICS is proud to add to the momentum as Official Footwear and High Performance Apparel Partner in this incredibly exciting phase for the sport in New Zealand.
“It’s a natural evolution of the partnership and reflects our commitment to supporting athletes with premium performance products across both training and competition.”
