A partnership built over more than two decades expanded to help bring the triathlon world to New Zealand

🛩️ House of Travel Christchurch City, a proud supporter of triathlon in New Zealand for nearly a quarter century, has doubled down on its commitment to the sport by becoming a Major Partner of Tauranga’s Triple Crown of World Triathlon Events through 2028.

Through its ‘Tri Travel New Zealand’ business, House of Travel Christchurch City will become Exclusive Travel Partner of the three events:

• 2026: World Triathlon Cup Tauranga (November 22)
• 2027: T50 Tauranga (Nov 20-21)
• 2028: T50 World Triathlon Championship Tour Grand Final Tauranga (Date TBC)

The partnership builds on a relationship with Tri NZ that began in 2002 and has seen House of Travel help thousands of Kiwi age-group athletes travel around the globe to compete at World Triathlon events.

For House of Travel Christchurch City Managing Director David Williams, the partnership is about much more than arranging flights and accommodation.

“Triathlon has been part of the House of Travel Christchurch City story for more than two decades, with staff, friends and family members having participated in the sport and experienced the unique community that surrounds it,” Williams said.

“It’s a wonderful, healthy community to be part of, and that’s why, even after all these years, we’re still here as a passionate partner.”

House of Travel Christchurch City join Major Events New Zealand, ASICS New Zealand and Tauranga City Council as major partners. Port of Tauranga, Barfoot & Thompson, Bay Radiology and Suzuki NZ have previously been confirmed as supporting partners.

For Tri NZ, the House of Travel partnership provides athletes and their support networks with access to a travel partner that understands the demands of competing internationally.

“House of Travel have been a trusted partner of Tri NZ for more than 20 years and have been responsible for the travel of thousands of age-group athletes across the world competing in World Triathlon Events,” Tri NZ CEO Pete de Wet said.

“They have a strong understanding of what is required to support travel around major events, and their expertise will add significant value not only to Kiwi travellers, but athletes and their support crews and families from around the world.”

Williams says House of Travel is proud to continue playing its part.

“We’ve seen generations of athletes come through triathlon, and we’ve seen how much the sport gives back to the people involved in it. We’re delighted to be able to continue supporting that community for another three years.”
